BARISTA DO'S AND DONTS

11 August 2022 by Matt Lawrence
We hopefully doing a video of this soon but here’s a jist of things. We want you to start making better coffee through these tips.

First up is the Donts. Sorry to be negative.

Soak your steam arms in water overnight – There’s a vacuum that goes up to the O Ring , Chemicals and even water can go up there and cause damage. A Steam Cloth and purging is enough.

Put hot drinks liquid on top of the machine
Store Syrups etc on top of the machine. – This is highly dangerous if any liquid goes inside the top of the machine, and will just break down all the sugar in the products you’re keeping on top of there. The sugar may even melt into the machine. Not good.

Keeping baskets clean- When you’ve knocked it out in the box, rinsing isn’t necessary however giving it a nice dry wipe is. Keep it clean and dry for every single coffee. Nobody wants the last drinks flavours in a drink.

Flush through- When you take the handle out the machine, flush is through. This way you get fresh nice hot water everytime every shot.

People will judge your cleanliness sometimes on the look of your steam wand. Dried milk isn’t cool, wipe it and purge it after steaming.

Different cloth for your steam arm. Different cloth for your workstation. Coffee residue and transferring grinds on a steam wand doesn’t quite cut it.

No, we can’t reuse milk. Steam is water. Think about it
