Meeting with the Sales Director of Novus Teas

Last friday there was a meeting planned with the Managing Director of our Tea Suppliers “Novus Teas”, showcasing new products, existing products made better & comparing their products to other competitors proving that we currently have the highest-quality tea possible.

To begin with he introduced us to the Novus Nitro Tea Persian Pommenagrante cans and how to correctly pour them, he handed us each a can for ourselves, poured them in a glass and then tasted the cold beverage for ourselves. Whilst I’m not personally much of a fan of Tea (Shocking!), the taste from this drink was actually extremely nice & enjoyable to the stage I found myself going back for seconds. Allan then continued this by setting up the Novus Nitro Tea machine, which contains the same product as the Persian Pommegranate Cans, but freshly brewed infront of you, ice-cold. The way the machine works is by having a large bag of the Persian Pommegranate liquid, hosed up into the machine, which when turned on will move the liquid from the bag into a large freezing-cold tank preparing it for when the next drink is poured out.

When it came to pouring the drink, you simply place a glass below the tap, and pull down on the hand-lever, Allan did this and a beautifully ice-cold creamy drink was poured into the glass below, with a large foam-like top, which was velvety smooth once drank, this smoothness is one of the key selling points for this product and is why it has had incredible feedback across parts of the world, even in America!

Once returned from a brief break, Allan had given us sample packs of new teas to look at & smell which we would later try as a drink ourselves. He then showed us the difference between cheap Matcha & expensive Matcha, in which the main way to tell the difference is to place some of the matcha on your fingers & spread it on a piece of paper, he did this with both Cheap & Expensive, and the difference between the two was incredible, the cheap matcha being a light green & the expensive matcha was a dark vivid green.

Then it was time to compare Novus Tea’s “English Breakfast” tea to 3 competitors English Breakfast tea. He poured all teas the same using exactly the same amount of tea and water and left them to brew for the same amount of time. He removed the labels from the tea-pots and left us blind not knowing which tea was from who.
When I tried the first sample, it tasted of nothing and left me confused, the second sample had flavour but for some reason had a bittery-sour taste at the end, the third was similar to the first but had hints of flavour, and the fourth sample had flavour which was perfectly in the middle of all of these. The Fourth sample was indeed from Novus Tea, and the reason for the second sample being too strong was due to a process called “Over-Extraction” which means the flavour is being produced too strongly & quickly causing the drink being too strong & bittery in the end.

Finally, We sampled the new products & reviewed them as they’re potentially new products which we may introduce in the future! We won’t spoil too much just yet, but the Tea Latte had both an incredible flavour & an incredible colour to it aswell!

We hope to attend more meeting similar to this in the future as they give an insight into what makes our products so good compared to other suppliers out there, as well as giving inside knowledge into new products ourselves before we acquire them!
